SOMEF believes that an exemplary
public school system is essential
to the well-being of our
community. Our mission is to
enhance the educational
experience for all South Orange-Maplewood School District
students and staff by providing
funds to enrich educational
programs, activities, and facilities.
In pursuit of our mission, SOMEF is committed to these goals:
- Increasing student achievement by providing resources and supporting creative and innovative programming
- Fostering character development by promoting programs that reinforce the importance of respect, cooperation, and responsibility
- Providing opportunities for staff development and the sharing of best practices
- Improving the physical environment to foster pride in and appreciation for our schools on the part of all students and staff members
- Supporting programs that increase the involvement and participation of parents and community members in partnership with our schools
- Insuring the equitable distribution of resources, so all children have the opportunity to succeed
- Building community confidence and support for our public schools
